The announcement was made today in a press release by the Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration, Fran\u00e7ois Bonnardel. For the restaurant sector, the following positions will now be processed on a priority basis under the Quebec Skilled Worker Selection Program (Programme de s\u00e9lection des travailleurs qualifi\u00e9s \u2013 PSTQ): cooks, assistant cooks, and related support staff, as well as servers (both dining room and counter service).<\/p>\n\n<p>It should be recalled that the PSTQ replaced the Quebec Experience Program (Programme de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise \u2013 PEQ) following its closure last summer. However, with Christine Fr\u00e9chette taking the helm of the Government of Quebec last April, the PEQ is expected to reopen in the coming weeks, for a period of two years.<\/p>\n\n<p>For the ARQ, the inclusion of the tourism industry in the list of priority sectors is a step in the right direction. However, this does not fully resolve the ongoing issues related to the renewal of permits for temporary foreign workers (TFWs). The ARQ is eagerly awaiting the reopening of the PEQ and hopes that it will address the vast majority of challenges faced by TFWs, who are essential to the proper functioning of the restaurant industry.<\/p>\n\n<p>In detail, the priority occupations in the restaurant sector are as follows:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>63200 \u2013 Cooks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>65200 \u2013 Food and beverage servers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>65201 \u2013 Counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tourism industry (including the restaurant sector) is now among the priority sectors in terms of immigration.
